Rogue Waves: The Serpents of the Open Seas?

I recall when I was about 9 years old I was in a discussion with one of my 60 year old friends, it was a discussion about the art of the viking ships, which had a serpents head and in the end a curled up serpents tail.

My reply to her was that I always though the art more resembled the breaking of humongous waves, and perhaps all the ancient maritime records spoke of ships destroyed by giant waves, and the ones that survived would in their explanations to people when returned home was that the waves caused by the serpents tails, caused their boats to be destroyed.

Offering a reasonable explanation to a ancient observation, from when our ancestors trying to describe something they did not understand. She did not like obviousness of my simple idea and how easily I would explain away the recorded stories of those of ancient times. Now in recent years I have learned about freak or rogue waves and they even started to talk about the same explanations I offered to my friend back a few decades ago.

Stories of the giant beasts of the sea being able to whip up a massive torrent of waves is a uncommon part of Norwegian maritime history. And only part of many dangerous things that could happen while navigating the open seas, with very little knowledge on how to anticipate storms other than the immediate observations, and how the same natural phenomena's would obscure the normal ways of navigation using the stars or the sun.

Tsunamis are as described in The Cause and Dangers of Tsunamis are another possible origin for some of the stories of the massive waves, as being already accepted as a fact, they could occur anywhere in the world, though tsunamis are not able to account for many of the freak waves since they would normally be present where the stored energy of the initial shock is able to build up in a wave, meaning on shallow waters.

Don't Go Into The woods

A few weeks ago I started jogging. I always jog in a wooded area for about a mile. At the same spot I always hear a voice whispering ...stay out... No one is ever around but I hear a voice in a whisper telling me not to go into the wooded area any further. I have always listened and turned and jogged back the way I came from. I told a close friend about what I hear and she said it was all in my mind. So I felt she was correct and the next time I went for my jog I indeed heard the same voice in a demanding whisper warning me NOT to go deeper into the wooded area. However, this time I did not listen to the voice and I did jog deeper into the wooded area.

I jogged about 3 more blocks deeper into the wooded area and then I started to feel light headed. I was wondering what was making me feel so faint and the last thing I remember until I woke up on the ground about 4 hours later with scratches all over my body, It felt very sore the next couple of days. I visited my doctor and the scratches could not be explained. There was 40 different scratches on my body and the doctor said they looked like someone scratching using their fingernails.

I never went back into the woods after that. I do wonder who or what attacked me after I fainted and I also wonder what is in the woods that the voice do not want me to see.

Foresight - The Ability of Precognition

This is a compelling true story from TJ in Norway, She have shared several occasions with me, when she experienced precognition, that kept her out of harms way in near accidents.

This one time she came home from Vadsø, Norway, after driving, she told us that and had experienced a foresight, while driving on a known dangerous road turn with limited visibility due to a large cliff, she had a sudden feeling that something was not right just around the next turn, and that she needed to slow down in order to avoid an accident. As she did around the cliff were two cars involved in a collision, and had she been driving at normal speed she would been unable to avoid crashing right into both of them. Just one of many similar foresights that kept her safe while driving or walking.

Another example of foresight that TJ shared with me happened back years ago, long before cell phones existed, when her husband and his brothers were out on a fishing trip and were caught in a unexpected storm. The other spouses were very worried, and when they noticed how calm TJ was, and they wondered how she could stay so calm when her husband was out caught in the storm. She calmly told them that she felt that they were not in any harm, and that they would all return home in about 15 minutes, and right on the clock there they all returned safely just like she predicted.
